Burnley host Everton in Matchweek 8 of the English Premier League.
The Clarets are having a solid start this season. They’ve achieved two comfortable wins at home against Norwich and Southampton. They kept clean sheets in the process. Burnley’s only defeat in front of their own fans was against Liverpool which is understandable.
Away from home The Clarets are also very solid by recording three draws and just one defeat at the hands of Arsenal. As a whole, the club is a harder nut to crack at home and is maybe the toughest away fixture to a mid-table club in the Premier League.
Sean Dyche always plays the same consistent back four in defense. They are stable, have experience playing next to each other, and the presence of Nick Pope at the goal provides them with additional defensive assurances.
Additionally, Everton are awful away from home, having scored only one goal in games at Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Bournemouth, which are not bad fixtures at all.
The Toffees are in trouble – many expected them to be near the top of the table considering the easy schedule they’ve had to open the Premier League season. Unfortunately, things have not gone according to plan and the manager – Marco Silva – is already feeling huge pressure.
The new summer signings Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean still haven’t settled in the team. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison are far from their top form. The absence of Gbamin in defensive midfield also has a huge negative effect.
Silva starts every game with a different front four (Bernard is also among the rotation) but with no satisfactory results thus far. An away game to Burnley isn’t the occasion where you would expect a change in fortunes.
